Why I love women...

Each of these ladies are very unique, full of life and deserving of all the shine that comes there way. Let me shed some light on why I love to be a woman........................

Nikki Jean!!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Congrats goes out to this beautiful one coming from my state of birth, Minnesota. Now reppin' Philly, Nikki has been putting in her work and making amazing tracks on the solo and with her well known band, Nouveau Riche. It looks like all of the hard work is finally showing it's fruit as she has kicked of her tour with Lupe Fiasco. Her track on his album is a banger and she looks flawless, yet keeps it real on the video. Can't wait to see her live!!!

Muhsinah!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This woman is ill on the production and vocals! A legend in the making and of her time. She is changing and bending the scene--track by track. Already doing big things in 08, but don't be surprised to see her more with Mj Zilla as her manager... Endless possibilities with this woman. I've heard she has some bangin' remixes on the way, so keep your ears on the grind.

Alice Smith!!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had the privilege of opening up for Alice @ the Black Lily Festival in Philly last year. Her presence and the timbre of her voice has a way of making your heart ache and your knee's weak. I love the way she can open her mouth and simply release the pain, love, suffering, and bliss--right from her tongue, straight from her soul.

TK Wonder!!!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I first got wind on TK Wonder @ The Knitting Factory when I went to see former choir-mate Taylor McFerrin play . She jumped on the stage looking stylish and even a bit nervous, but once her lips started rockin the mic with her swift and precise flo, all tension hit the floor.. along with jaws across the club. TK is currently in Europe on a tour with her other group GAEA. Be sure to grab her EP , the official copy is about to drop.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR: NYC celebrates love without lines that divide

Check it out...it's the Fifth Annual LOVING DAY party this coming Sunday. In the scale of global human history, the period and ambient cultural norms regarding interracial romance that preceded the 1967 Court decision are pretty shameful, and even though we have come a long way, looking at the state of the world today, I believe that the message of love that transcends artificial boundaries is and will always be relevant. People come up with different reasons and ways to divide themselves up into competing groups, and hopefully those who bring a message of unity won't be silenced again and again. In the spirit of the modern day prophets, Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Malcolm X, John Lennon, Stevie Wonder (thank God he is alive), I celebrate love every day.

What is Loving Day?

Loving Day is an educational community project. The name comes from Loving v. Virginia (1967), the landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized interracial marriage in the United States. Loving Day celebrations commemorate the anniversary of the Loving decision every year on or around June 12th.

Once again, it will be thousands of great items at rock bottom prices, in our great new space.

Z-100, the NY based 'Hit' radio station moved and ARC got their collection of LPs. So a whole lotta 80s LPs are triples and will be for sale - all in perfect condition!

This year there are more 45s than ever on offer. We've been alphabetizing again, as we do every few years or so, and Fred has found some gems in the dross. So if you're looking for bands who's name begins with an 'e,' 'i,' 'm,' 'o,' or 's,' THIS is the sale for YOU! Nice things by the Bob Seeger System, Sam the Sham, Slits, Electric Prunes, Method Actors, etcÉ

And before that ACE records set comes out, ARC is one THE ONLY place to pick up those rare A-Squared singles by the Frost or MC5. Lots of World Music, as always, including a major donation of Smithsonian and Indie CDs, including some old time fiddle stuff and a lot of Celtic albums and DVDs.

There are boxes of CDs, all at lowdown prices, by Elvis Costello, Diana Kraal, Son Volt, Duran Duran, Ry Cooder, etc. Posters are back - rare 60s gems by Gary Grimshaw, including the Who and Jimi Hendrix. Pricey, but perfect condition, with that odor of vintage silkscreen ink that we all know and love.
